Why choose Claire Chapman as your Coach Supervisor?
“The Coaches’ Coach and Supervisor”
I specialise in working with people who coach and support others. I love working with coaches who are mindful of the impact they make when they work with clients and want to increase their effectiveness as a coach.
How can I help you?
I’m trained specifically in coaching supervision, which means I can be more effective for you and offer you additional models and tools than if I’d only trained as a coach, or if I were a supervisor from a different profession. I trained with The Coaching Supervision Academy who focus on creating coach supervisors who provide space and time for reflection, insight, support and challenge.
Extensive coaching skills
You can be confident in my own coaching skills – I’m ICF ACC accredited, and have continued to undertake professional development and training to stay at the top of the coaching learning curve. You can also check out my online CV and my LinkedIn Recommendations. I’ve been a freelance coach since November 2005 alongside my day job before I went full time as a coach and supervisor in November 2008.
I know and do walk my talk – I have a coach, and a supervisor, and also regularly take part in contra-coaching to participate in coaching in different parts of the world and different cultures.
Understanding built on experience
My corporate, people management background in retail and financial services means that:
- I understand the challenges that come with working in an organisational environment – the level of change, balancing coaching with managing, or with other job roles, taking the time to progress your own development and coaching skills, to name just a few
- I’ve coached people in a range of settings and situations and can help you in your own settings and situations
- I’ve got a good understanding of the realities of the workplace, which is invaluable as a basis for understanding your situation – and that of your clients.
What have I got from supervision?
As I receive coaching supervision myself, I know how transformational it can be to your work as an effective and “value-add” coach. I’ve taken a wide range of issues to my own supervision including:
- Transforming my coaching by spending time with my supervisor thinking about who I am as a coach, and how that impacts on my work and my clients
- Getting to grips with new situations and new stakeholders in coaching relationships and working out what made me feel stuck, given new perspectives and able to formulate a plan to move forwards
- Struggled with the question of how to balance my need to market myself effectively with being a “true and authentic” coach rather than a teacher.
About my journey
I’m on my own journey, both to mastery as a coach, and to building mindfulness into my coaching work and the way I live my life. I know how to get things done and how to deliver, and I’ve had success academically as an Oxford graduate, lifelong learner, and in the corporate world as a successful and authentic people manager in retail and financial services.

It has been great to have Claire as an encouraging and sympathetic ear with whom I could to talk through my anxieties and blocks over the coaching training. Claire has helped to keep me positive and to take a ‘can-do’ approach to getting over the last hurdles of training as well as exploring how my coaching work will unfold once I am qualified. Many thanks, Claire! Cherry, South East
