Best Practice in Coaching Supervision

Knowing that you’ve chosen an effective coach supervisor will make you feel confident in your work together, ready to take your coaching practice to the next level, and delighted in the investment you are making in your present, and future as a coach.

So, how do you know I am the most effective coach supervisor for you?

applesI follow best practice in coaching supervision as recommended in the CIPD 2006 Report on Coaching Supervision. (PDF)

Focuses on client, individual and organisational needs:

- Use frameworks and tools to help you be more effective in organisations
- Provide discussions on the systems you are working in as a coach in each coaching relationship

Provide continual professional development to you as a coach

- Suggest relevant resources of professional development and learning
- Provide information via blog, teleclasses etc
- Support you developing a bigger picture, super-vision view of your work rather than just the day to day challenges

Quality assures the provision of your coaching:

- Offering mentor coaching where I listen to you actually coach, as well as professional discussions.
- Provide supervision reports on request and with your agreement.

Provide resource and support for your effective coaching

- Useful links and information gained from my training
- Share frameworks and resources
- Offer support and a breathing space when client situations are tricky

Support you generating organisational learning

- Discussing coaching with a third party can help you spot and highlight organisational trends, and in turn take these back to the organisation to add in further value.

Help you manage ethical and confidential boundaries

- Use the ICF ethics as part of our work
- Support you through the BE FREE workbook for coaches to set up effective boundaries in your practice yourself
- Help you build your own criteria for who you want to coach

I offer programs which help you get individual, group and set up peer supervision

- Giving you the choice means it is in YOUR hands and gives you different situations to learn in

Offering programs which mean we can work as frequently as you like

- With a recommendation to follow the guidelines of 1:35 supervision/ coaching or at least bi-monthly
- Support between our sessions in a format which works for you (phone, email, twitter)
